During a recent appearance on Gil's Arena, Hardaway wished that he could have faced off against Haliburton on the court and wasn't a fan of his trash talk.
“If I go back and suit up, I wanna go f--k up Tyrese Haliburton," Hardaway said (h/t SI.com's Farbod Esnaashari). "He talks so much s--t. I wanna go back and bust his motherf--king ass. He think he all that.”
The exact reason for the current feud is unknown but Haliburton's Pacers have started a budding rivalry with a Detroit Pistons team that plays Tim Hardaway Jr., Hardaway's son.
The Pacers have beaten the Pistons in three of their four meetings this season, with hard fouls and confrontations between players occurring in nearly every game.
Haliburton has excelled against Detroit, averaging 20.3 points and 6.3 assists per game while shooting 49.2 percent from the field in four matchups with the Pistons during his 2024-25 campaign.
As for the elder Hardaway, he made three All-Star appearances and averaged 17.7 points per game across his 13-year career with the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets and Pacers.
While Hardaway and Haliburton have traded public jabs, there appears to be more tension under the surface following the latest social media post from Indiana's lead guard.
