Video: Joel Embiid 'Not Himself' amid Injury, 76ers' Losing Streak, Says Nick Nurse

Amid one of the most injury-ridden seasons of his career, Joel Embiid continues to be dogged by knee trouble.

Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse said after Saturday's 105-103 loss to the Brooklyn Nets his star center is "not himself" and "giving us what he can."

Embiid had 14 points on 4-of-13 shooting against Brooklyn, and he missed all six of his three-point attempts. His performance and Philly's loss—the Sixers' losing streak now sits at seven games—add to a bitterly disappointing year.

Embiid has played just 19 games this season as a result of injuries, namely a knee issue that he has been managing since last year. He missed the first few games of the year but managed to play seven games in December. He appeared just twice in January before missing a month of action, making his return on Feb. 4.

When healthy, Embiid hasn't performed up to his usual standards, either. He's averaging 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest.

Those numbers aren't as good as his MVP season two years ago, when he averaged 33.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Because of that, his presence hasn't been enough to keep the 76ers in the playoff hunt when he has stepped onto the court.

Amid all of his injury troubles, Embiid revealed that he "thinks it will likely take another surgery and a long recovery period" for his knee to fully heal.

Whether Embiid will opt for surgery remains to be seen, but if it's what it takes for him to be fully healthy, it seems like the right option.

With Embiid battling injuries this year, the Sixers have struggled. They're currently sitting in 12th place in the Eastern Conference at 20-36 and are desperate to turn things around before the postseason.
