The Internet Reacts to David West Signing with San Antonio Spurs

Dan CarsonJul 6, 2015

True to his word, David West is headed to a title contender in the San Antonio Spurs for the 2015-16 season.

Early reports indicate West will sign a one-year, veteran-minimum deal with the Spurs where he will be paid in gum, limericks and whatever coffee Gregg Popovich doesn't finish that morning.

But money isn't on West's radar, as he indicated early in July after announcing his decision to opt out of his remaining year with the Indiana Pacers.

Winning is all that matters for West, who now joins LaMarcus Aldridge as another vaunted catch in San Antonio's summer free-agency haul.ย

Naturally, Twitter and the Interwebs flipped their collective grits upon hearing the Spurs had worked more of their free-agency blood magic and landed a $10 million veteran for a shoelace and some Pez they found in the couch.

Yup, it's Pop-apalooza out there:

Also, I couldn't help myself.

Congrats, San Antonio. I, for one, welcome back our old overlords with open arms.
