Amid an MVP-caliber season, Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has a new signature shoe.
Ahead of the All-Star Break this weekend, Converse revealed the SHAI 001, Gilgeous-Alexander's first signature shoe. The shoes are about as unique as they come, with an interesting design that features a zipper over its laces.
The particular colorway for Gilgeous-Alexander to wear in the All-Star game is a mostly gold look.
“I wanted to create something new,” he said. “I wanted to bring Converse into my world, and have Converse through my lens.”
After the 26-year-old wears the signature shoes for the All-Star Game, they'll be released this fall.
Though Converse was one of the premier brands for basketball players for years, Nike and Adidas have taken over in the last few decades. Gileous-Alexander signed with the iconic brand in 2020 and has been a part of its recent resurgence.
Along with Gileous-Alexander, Philadelphia 76ers guard Kelly Oubre Jr. sports Converse as his shoe brand.
Gileous-Alexander is having another outstanding season, leading the league in scoring at 32.6 points per game while adding six assists and 5.1 rebounds per game.
He'll get a break from leading the NBA's best team this weekend as he makes his third All-Star appearance.
