Video: Luka Doncic Reacts to Lakers' Loss to Jazz, Talks Plan for NBA All-Star Break
Luka Dončić is still shaking off the rust after missing six weeks with a calf injury, while at the same time trying to get acclimated with his new Los Angeles Lakers teammates after a sloppy performance in Wednesday's 131-119 loss to the Utah Jazz.
Speaking to reporters after the loss (starts at :51 mark), Dončić admitted to feeling "a little bit rusty" against the Jazz.
Dončić finished the game with 16 points, four assists, four rebounds and five turnovers. He was minus-19 in 23 minutes, his worst single game plus-minus of the season.
Looking ahead to the All-Star break (starts at 1:05 mark), Dončić said he's going to be taking a "mental rest" for the next week before the season resumes. His plans also include "trying to have some fun with the family."
Dončić is trying to get his bearings after the stunning trade that sent him to the Lakers. He's also working his way back into playing shape after missing nearly six weeks due to a strained calf.
The loss snapped the Lakers' six-game winning streak, but they are still going into the break with a lot of positive momentum. They are fifth in the Western Conference with a 32-20 record.
Things should improve for the Lakers going forward because Dončić is going to start playing at full strength and he will get comfortable in his new surroundings.
Even though this is still a flawed roster that could have trouble competing with the very top teams in the West, the pairing of Dončić and LeBron James is going to make the Lakers very dangerous.
