Report: Bojan Bogdanovic Out for Season with Foot Injury, Will Be Waived by Nets
Bojan Bogdanović will reportedly undergo foot surgery and miss the remainder of the season, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
Charania added that Bogdanović will be waived to free up a roster spot to sign Killian Hayes to a 10-day contract and convert two-way guard Tyrese Martin to a standard NBA deal.
Bogdanović returned to the Brooklyn Nets, the team with which he started his career in the league, as part of the Mikal Bridges trade. His $19 million salary was instrumental from a financial standpoint in facilitating the blockbuster swap.
The 35-year-old has not appeared in a game for the Nets since the trade. He underwent foot surgery midway through the 2024 playoffs with the New York Knicks, and the procedure has left him sidelined since.
Even before the wrist and foot injuries sidelined him in the playoffs, Bogdanović had to assume a much lesser role on the Knicks than he had become accustomed to in the NBA. He averaged 19.2 minutes per game in 29 appearances, which was the lowest of his career at any stop.
The fact he was basically salary filler in the Bridges trade didn't exactly paint a great picture of his value in the eyes of NBA front offices.
At this point in his career, Bogdanović might still be a good impact scorer off the bench when he has the benefit of a full offseason to get himself ready. His 10.4-point scoring average and 37.0-percent clip on three-pointers with the Knicks aren't too bad within the context of his playing time.
Bogdanović is in the final year of the $39 million contract he originally signed with the Detroit Pistons and will be a free agent this summer.
