Dwyane Wade Re-Signs with Heat: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction
The long and fruitful marriage between Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat will continue, as the two sides have agreed to a new deal.ย
Wade announced on Instagram he will be returning to the Heat:

Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press reported the deal is worth $20 million for one year.ย
On July 10, the Heat made things official with a quote from team president Pat Riley:
"โFor over a decade, Dwyane has embodied what it means to wear the Miami HEAT uniform. He has been the pillar and constant of this organization, and is a true champion in every sense of the word. We are thrilled that Dwyane has re-signed and will lead us as we look to win another NBA Championship.โ
"
Wade's agent Henry Thomas commented on why they decided on a one-year deal, via ESPN's Darren Rovell:ย
Wade has been the face of Miami basketball, even during the LeBron James years, since he was the fifth overall draft pick by the team in 2003.ย
There were times this summer when Wade and the Heat seemed like they could be headed for a divorce.ย
A person familiar with the negotiations told the Associated Press (via Fox Sports) in May that Wade was "trying to figure things out."
Yet all anyone had to do was go back to what Wade posted on Instagram when he signed an extension with the Heat last summer to know how he felt about the city and franchise:
Wade isn't the unstoppable force he used to be, but the 33-year-old is still one of the best players in the NBA. He averaged 21.5 points and 4.8 assists per game last season and shot 47 percent from the field.ย
The risk for Miami is Wade's health. He appeared in 62 games last year after playing 54 the previous year.ย
The Heat will have to overcome his inevitable absences next season, which will be a challenge. However, with a roster that also includes superstar Chris Bosh, point guard Goran Dragic (assuming his five-year deal gets finalized), two-time All-Star Luol Deng, lottery pick Justise Winslow and last season's biggest surprise, Hassan Whiteside, Miami will undoubtedly be a dangerous team when the 11-time All-Star is on the court.
