Arron Afflalo Reportedly Signs with New York Knicks
The New York Knicks will sign Arron Afflalo to a two-year, $16 million deal, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN. Shelburne noted the second year of the deal would be a player option.
Perhaps Knicks All-Star Carmelo Anthony is to thank. Anthony reached out to recruit free agents such as Afflalo and Monroe, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard. There's also the lure of the Big Apple's big market and the legendary Phil Jackson overseeing the Knicks' rebuilding project.
The team still needs to sort out its starting point guard situation, but at least Afflalo upgrades the perimeter defense and can space the floor better as a career 38.5 percent three-point shooter.

For being such a solid player on both ends of the court, Afflalo has bounced around to three different teams in as many years. He most recently completed an underwhelming 25-game stint in Portland and battled a shoulder strain in the playoffs.
Tommy Beer of Basketball Insiders highlighted the struggles Afflalo endured, as he couldn't find a groove on a dysfunctional Denver team before heading to the Trail Blazers:
A degree of patience will be required before the Knicks can expect to win regularly. Their top draft pick, Kristaps Porzingis, needs time to get into a rhythm in the NBA, and coach Derek Fisher must show he can lead a bounce-back effort after a disastrous first season at the helm.
Afflalo is affordable and would immediately improve New York's backcourt, plugging in as a starter right away. If the Knicks can just find the proper catalyst for their triangle offense, the 29-year-old Afflalo figures to be a great fit.
