Nets Reportedly Aren't Moving Johnson

After agreeing to a buyout with Deron Williams, the Nets are "intent" on keeping Johnson, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.
On July 4, ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst reported the Cleveland Cavaliers were looking to deal for Johnson. The Cavs would use Haywood, whose contract isn't guaranteed, meaning cutting him would help the Nets to clear cap space, saving them money toward the luxury tax. Windhorst also noted center Anderson Varejao could be included in the deal.
Grizzlies, Hornets, Pistons All Inquired About Johnson

Stein reported the Memphis Grizzlies showed interest in Johnson. Although no deal was consummated, Brooklyn viewed the discussions as a positive sign regarding Johnson's value on the trade market at the time:
Stein also reported the Charlotte Hornets and Detroit Pistons inquired about Johnson.
The former first-round pick of the Boston Celtics is due to make nearly $25 million this upcoming season. He will hit free agency in 2016, but his contract makes it quite difficult for the Nets to make other moves.
