Tyus Jones to Timberwolves: Trade Details and Reaction from 2015 NBA Draft

Joe PantornoJun 25, 2015

The Minnesota Timberwolves have acquired Duke point guard Tyus Jones after he was selected 24th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2015 NBA draft.

According to ESPN's Chad Ford, Jones is just the man the Timberwolves were looking for.

Jones averaged 11.8 points per game and 5.6 assists in his only year at Duke, helping the Blue Devils to a national championship win over Wisconsin.

RealGM compares some of today's NBA members to Jones.

The Apple Valley, Minnesota, native will join a Timberwolves side rich in young talent with the likes of reigning Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins, Ricky Rubio and newest member Karl-Anthony Towns. For Seth Davis, this is a great situation for Jones.

Last year, the Timberwolves finished 16-66, the worst record in the NBA and their worst season since 2009-10.

The Cavaliers acquired two second-round draft picks at 31st and 36th overall (not the 34th, as Ford tweeted).
