Nike Kyrie 1 'Independence Day' Release Date Schedule, Pics and Retail Price
Like other recognizable names, Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers gets patriotic this holiday season with the release of his "Independence Day" edition of the Kyrie 1 Saturday.
Irving may hail from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, but he's going red, white and blue—with a sleek dash of silver—for the holidays.
Here's a look at the release details, via Sneaker Bar Detroit:
| Saturday, June 27 | 10 a.m. ET | $110 |
It's a unique opportunity for sneakerheads to get reacquainted with one of the smoother modern designs sometimes lost in the wake of the LeBron Jameses and Kevin Durants of the world.
Villa offers a look at the final product from a different angle:
Veterans of the design know what to expect. The multicolored bottoms are still around with their jagged designs. Mesh texture lines the shoe and a protruding crystal design loops around the back, giving the kicks a unique look and feel.
Villa also zooms on the sweet metallic swoosh, which gives sneakerheads a chance to see through the mesh to the inside design, as well as the texture of the logo-based tongue:
Sole-U provides a look at the back, which trumpets the "#2" in Irving's handwriting and the creative loop around the rear:
In the above image, folks can also peek at the star point guard's signature, which is sprawled on the inside of each tongue. A dose of handwriting gives the pair of shoes a personal touch many do not offer owners.
As a total package, this iteration of the Kyrie 1 takes care of business. It's a smart take on the modern classic, using proper colors with a dash of unexpected silver so as to not get too predictable.
Even better, the shoe seems to tell the tale of Irving's journey to the NBA and doubles as a relatable hit for sneakerheads during this holiday season.
The Kyrie 1 "Independence Day" drops Saturday.
