Kobi Simmons to Arizona: Wildcats Land 5-Star Guard Prospect
One of the top guards in the nation just made the Arizona Wildcats very happy, as he announced his commitment to the school Saturday, according to Matt Moreno of Rivals.com.
"It just felt like a family," Simmons said, per Jeff Borzello of ESPN. "I just felt really wanted and needed there. Every player on the team has texted me and hit me up"
Simmons, a 6'5", 170-pound combo guard out of St. Francis in Alpharetta, Georgia, is considered the No. 8 prospect in the country, the No. 1 player from the state of Georgia and the No. 1 player at his position, per 247 Sports' composite rankings.

As ESPN noted in its scouting report on Simmons, he's "a long and quick combination guard that can score and distribute the ball. Excellent first step as he slashes in between defenders. Rhythm dribble three point shooter can get in a scoring flow and rhythm and has dominating possessions in transition and the half court as well."
Simmons' ability to both distribute and score should translate immediately to the college game, especially if he can consistently hit shots from beyond the three-point line. He's a smooth, silky player who won't be afraid or incapable of finding his own shot.
He certainly impressed coaches in April when he went for 15 points, five assists and three steals in the first game of the adidas Uprising Gauntlet Series.
Arizona got one of the better pure scorers in this class—and certainly one of its most talented, versatile guards. Simmons may not stick around the college game for long, but expect him to make a major impact during his freshman year.
