NBA 2K16 Will Feature 3 Cover Athletes, Spike Lee Directing

Film director and noted NBA fan Spike Lee is making his video game directorial debut with NBA 2K16.

Stephen Curry, James Harden and Anthony Davis will also be making their debuts as the cover athletes for the upcoming edition.

Following the announcement made Thursday, Lee detailed the storyline written for the game's MyCareer feature in an interview with Marco della Cava of USA Today.

"We follow a kid through the trials and tribulations of being a top high school player and the decisions he has to make," the filmmaker said.

Della Cava reports the MyCareer mode will cover the social and business challenges professional athletes are often faced with, giving the game a more realistic experience.

Lee shot 90 minutes' worth of "cinematic narrative" during the 12-day shoot at 2K Games' Bay Area studios, which reportedly translates to 12 hours' worth of in-game drama.
