Shumpert Injures Shoulder in Game 3

Tuesday, June 9

CNN's Rachel Nichols reported Shumpert headed to the locker room after injuring his left shoulder on a screen by Draymond Green in the first quarter of Game 3. Although he would return with 5:31 remaining in the second period with a sleeve on his arm.

As Nichols pointed out, this is the same shoulder Shumpert injured as a member of the New York Knicks earlier this season.

Shumpert's injury adds to the already unsteady status of Cleveland's backcourt, as Kyrie Irving is out for the series with a broken kneecap.

Since his trade from the Knicks along with fellow teammate J.R. Smith in January, Shumpert has become a defensive specialist for the Cavaliers, shutting down the opposition's best players. His play has been so impressive as of late, it prompted teammate LeBron James to tell the New York Post's Marc Berman that Shumpert "will make an All-Defensive Team 'very soon.'"

While there has been a slight dip in his offensive numbers, Shumpert provided the depth the Cavaliers needed to help turn their season around.
