Ross Undergoes Surgery

Saturday, May 23

An NBA.com press release noted Saturday that Ross underwent the surgery “to remove bone spurs and loose bodies from his left ankle.” He will rehab back in Toronto, although there is no definitive date for a return to basketball activities.

Ross played all 82 games this season and averaged 9.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game behind a 37.2 percent shooting from three-point range.

The fact that bone spurs and loose bodies were in Ross’ ankle in the first place probably didn’t help his play this year, especially late in the postseason loss to the Washington Wizards. Ross only scored in double figures one time in what was ultimately a Washington sweep.

Considering it is only May and the surgery is already done, Ross should theoretically be fine by the start of the 2015-16 season. What’s more, he will likely be even more effective without the spurs hampering his movement, which is encouraging for a Raptors team that saw him post solid numbers and stay on the floor throughout the 2014-15 campaign.

He is only 24 years old, and any long-term improvement will set the Raptors up for more success in the postseason.
