Daily Fantasy Basketball 2015: Best NBA DFS DraftKings Lineup for May 14

Eric MackMay 14, 2015

The Chicago Bulls-Cleveland Cavaliers series might be must-see TV, but defense doesn't win daily fantasy basketball championships. The key figures in the Houston Rockets-Los Angeles Clippers series might. That high-scoring affair dominates our best NBA DFS DraftKings lineup for Thursday, May 14.

PG Chris Paul, Los Angeles Clippers ($8,600)

The entire postseason had Paul more expensive than Derrick Rose ($8,700), until Game 6. Now is the time to buy on the Clippers point guard, especially after he has proved healthy with back-to-back 40-plus-point games at DraftKings. Rose might have the higher ceiling, based on the production in the postseason, but Paul was the better player for most of the season. We like Paul in the buy position here.

  • Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls ($8,700)
  • Kyrie Irving, Cleveland Cavaliers ($7,700)

SG James Harden, Houston Rockets ($9,600)

He hasn't quite been in his regular-season form this postseason, but he is coming off a triple-double in Game 5, and, like Paul above, this is the lowest price Harden has fallen to. The early games in the series were modest, so it lines us up with an opportunity to get Harden in a rare position of value.

  • Jason Terry, Houston Rockets ($4,200)
  • Jimmy Butler, Chicago Bulls ($8,200)

SF Trevor Ariza, Houston Rockets ($6,200)

It will be difficult to squeeze LeBron James ($11,400) into your budget, particularly if you go with us on the previous two picks, so this is where Ariza comes in as an important piece. He has been outscoring his price for most of the series, posting 36-plus DraftKings points in four of five games.

  • LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers ($11,500)
  • Josh Smith, Houston Rockets ($5,000)

PF Tristan Thompson, Cleveland Cavaliers ($5,300)

No James or Blake Griffin ($10,300)? We must be losing our minds. We don't want to lose money, too. Thompson's production won't come close to Griffin's, but the Cav can post a 30-fantasy point game for you and help you field a more balanced lineup. Going with James and Griffin would force you to get lucky on some cheap lineup duds.

  • Blake Griffin, Houston Rockets ($10,300)
  • Taj Gibson, Cleveland Cavaliers ($4,800)

C Dwight Howard, Houston Rockets ($8,500)

If you can throw out Game 4's disappointing effort—15 DraftKings points due to a foul out—Howard has been one of the DFS gems of the NBA playoffs. He has been able to play big minutes otherwise and post elite production, racking up four double-doubles, including a 20-15 mark in Game 5. His price is rising, but it is still in a buy position for us.

  • Joakim Noah, Chicago Bulls ($5,900)
  • DeAndre Jordan, Los Angeles Clippers ($7,900)
