35th Anniversary of Dr. J's Iconic Reverse Layup Versus Lakers in NBA Finals

Thirty-five years ago today, Julius Erving sank one of the greatest—and most iconic—shots in NBA history.

It was Game 4 of the 1980 NBA Finals between the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers. With seven minutes, 35 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Dr. J went baseline and took off toward the sky.

After hanging in the air for what seemed forever, Erving contorted his body to get to the other side of the rim and laid in an incredible reverse scoop shot.

The Sixers won the game 105-102 to tie the series at 2-2, but L.A. went on to win 4-2.
