NFL Rumors: Latest Buzz Surrounding 1st Round of 2015 NFL Draft
The first round of the NFL draft is always full of surprises, but following the latest rumors might keep us from getting caught too off guard.
Although you have to be cautious about misinformation at this time of year, where there is smoke there is often fire. Even the deals that don't get completed are at least discussed, which tells you a lot about the mindset of each team involved.
There will still be shocking moments in the first round of the NFL draft Thursday, but here is the latest buzz to keep you prepared.
Who Wants Marcus Mariota?

If Jameis Winston is selected No. 1 overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as expected, it will be extremely interesting to see what happens with the No. 2 pick.
The Tennessee Titans will be on the clock, but Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reports many teams are interested in making a move, presumably to draft quarterback Marcus Mariota:
ESPN's Pat McManamon reported Wednesday the Cleveland Browns have gone as far as offering both of their first-round picks, which includes the No. 12 and the No. 19 overall selections. However, the Browns are not the only team involved in the race for the quarterback.
According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Philadelphia Eagles are doing "all they can" to land Mariota. He later explained a potential move was "gaining steam" with a breakdown that includes veteran quarterback Sam Bradford going to the Browns:
"The sense that coach Chip Kelly would give up plenty to get the one sure thing he sees in this (and perhaps any) draft continues to gather momentum, with more and more veteran players reportedly available to be sent elsewhere and with the Browns reportedly believing they can finally get quarterback Sam Bradford.
"
If the Eagles continue to offer more and more to the Titans, it will eventually be very hard for them to say no. On the other hand, the curious part about these deals is Tennessee could also benefit from drafting Mariota.
Bleacher Report's Dan Pompei explained this as the most likely scenario:
Unless Tennessee is truly blown away by an offer, staying put would be the smartest move to hopefully add a franchise quarterback to a roster that needs one.
Falcons Looking For a Pass-Rusher

The Atlanta Falcons are scheduled to pick at No. 8 in the first round, but they might be on the move with the intention to bring in a pass-rusher. According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, they hope that will be Dante Fowler:
"The Falcons likely will draft a defensive edge rusher with their first-round pick. They covet Florida’s Dante Fowler Jr., who was recruited to Florida by Quinn when he was the Gators’ defensive coordinator.
However, the Falcons likely would have to trade up as high as to Jacksonville’s third slot or to Oakland’s fourth spot to land Fowler.
"
Peter King of The MMQB discussed the possibility of a trade with the Washington Redskins at No. 5. Both Pompei and Florio also reported the Redskins being open to a trade.
ESPN's John Clayton speculated a potential move involving the Oakland Raiders as well:
Despite all of this noise, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com provided an alternate scenario for Atlanta:
Considering the Falcons finished second to last in the league with just 22 sacks last season, it seems like generating a pass rush should be a high priority. Fortunately, there are a number of options beyond just Fowler if no trade is available.
Sitting back and waiting to get either Vic Beasley or Bud Dupree could end up being the better long-term move for the Falcons.
Dolphins Want Skill Players

With the Miami Dolphins picking up quarterback Ryan Tannehill's fifth-year option, per Pro Football Talk (via NFL.com's Conor Orr), the key now is to surround him with talent on offense.
Adam H. Beasley of The Miami Herald initially reported the team's interest in running back Todd Gurley. The former Georgia star is coming off of knee surgery, but when healthy, he is considered the best player in the draft at his position.
That said, the Dolphins might not be waiting to see what happens at No. 14 if they can instead get a player they truly covet. According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Miami is considering a trade to get wide receiver DeVante Parker:
Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network (via Bryan Fischer of NFL.com) said earlier in the process Parker—along with Amari Cooper and Kevin White—were "three of the safest players in the draft."
Despite this distinction, Omar Kelly of the Sun Sentinel doesn't think the receiver is good enough to be a starter right away:
With Greg Jennings, Kenny Stills and Jarvis Landry already on the roster, it might be difficult for Parker to earn playing time right out of the gate with Miami. Still, he would represent plenty of upside, and he can grow alongside Tannehill over the next few years.
Whether the Dolphins trade up or stay put, it seems likely a receiver or a running back will be taken.
