Duncan Moves into 3rd Place on All-Time Playoff Games List
San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan recorded the 238th playoff appearance of his career in Sunday's 114-105 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for sole possession of third place on the NBA's all-time playoff games list, per Dan McCarney of the San Antonio Express-News.
Duncan turned in a huge solo performance in the losing effort, finishing with 22 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, three blocks, two steals and two turnovers over 38 minutes.
Should the Spurs ultimately defeat the Clippers in a series that's currently tied at two games apiece, Duncan will likely pass Robert Horry for second place on the all-time playoff games list at some point during the second round.
Horry retired with 244 career playoff appearances, leaving him six ahead of Duncan's current total.
The all-time leader is current New York Knicks coach Derek Fisher, who played in 259 playoff games over the course of an 18-year career.
It isn't entirely out of the question for Duncan to surpass Fisher by the end of the current postseason, as the gap of 21 games could potentially be closed if the Spurs were to advance to the NBA Finals.
Of course, they'd need to do so in rather dramatic fashion, given that Duncan would only have 24 opportunities to play if each of the Spurs' playoff series went the full seven games.
