Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post delivered the ominous news regarding Porter's health:
With the playoffs just around the corner, Washington can ill afford to lose any of its prominent contributors.
Porter hasn't quite lived up to the hype as the 2013 draft's No. 3 overall pick, but he is going to be counted on to play important minutes in the postseason—provided he's fit enough to do so.
A heavy burden is already on an aging Paul Pierce to show the young team how to get it done in the playoffs, and he doesn't have much left in the tank. Playing heavy minutes would be a challenge without Porter to spell him.
The Wizards are an enigmatic squad—a decent team that doesn't look like a title contender. If Porter can get healthy and perform at a higher level, he can be an X-factor as they prepare for a postseason run.
