President Obama Hits Game-Winner at Easter Egg Roll, Talks Trash to Paul Pierce
The United States’ commander in chief may be a volume shooter, but he did manage to pull out a dagger against the Washington Wizards at the White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday.
President Barack Obama joined local youngsters, Paul Pierce and the Wizards for the annual shootaround at the White House basketball court.
It’s a space where President Obama has had trouble in the past, but the leader of the free world put his prior shooting woes behind him and hoisted up an elbow jumper that turned the tide of whatever game (21?) they were playing.
President Obama received some high-fives, but he was mainly concerned with letting Pierce know about it.
“That’s three in a row!” Obama shouted at Pierce. “Would you like a second?”
Pierce responded with a high-five, presumably stowing this moment deep down for later retribution in the “P-I-G” contest.
Now, we must give the president his due for getting buckets. Of all commodities in this life, buckets are among the most valuable, and by NBA Jam standards, he was on fire.
The question that remains, however, is how many shots did our leader hoist this afternoon? He’s put up some Michael Carter-Williams-ish nights at past Easter Egg Rolls, going 2-of-22 in 2013, per ABC News. That’s bad, stat-searching President Obama. Monday appeared to be good, efficient President Obama.
We demand much from our politicians, but I don’t think it’s crazy to ask for 40 percent from the field.
Dan is on Twitter. Presidential buckets are geopolitical currency.
