Chris Andersen Injury: Updates on Heat Forward's Foot and Return
The Miami Heat are battling for position at the bottom of the Eastern Conference playoff picture. The last thing they need is another injury—this time to big man Chris Andersen.
Continue for updates.
Andersen Expected to Play vs. Hornets
Tuesday, April 7
Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post reported that Andersen is expected to play Tuesday night. Andersen missed the team's last game vs. Indiana.
The team’s official Twitter account noted Saturday that Andersen would not return to the game against the Detroit Pistons because of a left-foot contusion.
It is just the latest physical setback in a trying season for the Heat, as Chris Bosh, Josh McRoberts, Hassan Whiteside and Dwyane Wade have all dealt with various ailments.
Bleacher Report NBA Senior Writer Ethan Skolnick pointed out how the attrition has impacted this team: “If it were just him (Wade), perhaps Miami could push through. But you need a medical degree, or at least a week-long stay at a Holiday Inn Express, as you work your way through the Heat locker room these days. Everyone is aching, physically and, at this point, psychologically.”
The only active player on the Heat roster with more rebounds per game this season than Andersen is Whiteside, which means he, Luol Deng and Udonis Haslem will have to step up their efforts even more on the boards if Andersen is forced to miss extended time.
Miami’s depth has already been tested this season, and this is the latest blow. The more that important role players like Andersen suffer even minor injuries, the less of a chance this team has at reaching the playoffs or making noise once it gets there.
