Houston Rockets vs. Dallas Mavericks: Live Score, Highlights and Reaction
James Harden scored 24 points, Trevor Ariza added 19 and the Houston Rockets rallied to defeat the Dallas Mavericks, 108-101, at American Airlines Center Thursday night.
With the win, the Rockets jumped into second place in the Western Conference.
The Rockets entered the fourth quarter trailing 83-77, but they outscored the Mavericks 31-18 during the final frame to pull out the victory.
Harden only shot 6-of-15 and missed six of his eight three-point tries, but, as always, he lived at the free-throw line. He went 10-of-12 from the charity stripe and hit several big foul shots late to help Houston earn the win.
The Rockets overcame poor free-throw shooting overall (29-of-40) and 20 turnovers in topping their divisional rivals. Hitting 11 triples and outrebounding the Mavs 55-41 helped.
Dallas shot the same overall field-goal percentage as Houston (44 percent), but it went only 8-of-26 from beyond the arc and made 10 less foul shots.
Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks with 21 points and Monta Ellis added 19. Ellis was inefficient, however, going just 7-of-20 from the floor.
Chandler Parsons left the game in the second half with a sore knee.
Dallas has gone just 6-8 over its last 14 games and has dropped four losses behind the San Antonio Spurs for the West's No. 6 seed.
The Rockets won the season series with the Mavericks, 3-1.
Houston will now head to OKC to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder at 1 p.m. ET on Easter Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Mavericks will host the Golden State Warriors Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. ET.
