Lowry Has Bruise, Expected to Play Friday
Wednesday, April 22
Casey revealed that Lowry is dealing with a bruise and is "fine," per Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun. Per the Raptors' media relations account on Twitter, Lowry "is expected to practice [Thursday] and play Friday at Washington."
The Raptors announced on April 21 that their star point guard suffered a left shin contusion Tuesday night and that he would be re-evaluated on Wednesday.
Prior to leaving Game 2, Lowry had six points and four assists in 27 minutes of play. Despite the lackluster performance, Lowry is the heart and soul of this Toronto team and is often the focal point of the offense because of his ability to facilitate for his teammates, attack the lane off the dribble and hit from three-point range.
He has already missed some time this season to injury. The Raptors certainly didn't fall out of playoff contention in his absence, but they need him on the floor to challenge the top teams in the East in the postseason.
Lowry played 79 games last season, but he only appeared in 68 in 2012-13 and 47 in 2011-12. Durability isn't exactly his trademark, which is somewhat concerning given this latest issue. Toronto needs him healthy.
