Portland Trail Blazers vs. Memphis Grizzlies: Live Score, Highlights, Reaction
Jeff Green scored 23 points, Mike Conley added 21 and the Memphis Grizzlies topped the undermanned Portland Trail Blazers, 97-86, at FedEx Forum Saturday night, sending the Trail Blazers to their fourth straight loss.
Already without Wesley Matthews (Achilles) and Chris Kaman (shoulder strain), the Blazers played the second half of this game without LaMarcus Aldridge (left hand) and Nicolas Batum (lower back). Neither player came out of the locker room after halftime.
X-rays came back negative on Aldridge's hand.
The Grizzlies set the tone with a hot start in this one, scoring 35 points in the first quarter and making eight of their first nine three-point attempts.
Although they ended up shooting only 42 percent from the floor overall, they made 11 of their 18 long-range tries. Green went 5-of-7 from distance, draining four triples in a decisive third quarter that saw Memphis go up by as many as 18.
Portland made a couple of runs in the second half and actually cut the lead to seven early in the fourth period. However, with four key players sidelined, it just did not have enough to make up for the deficit. Zach Randolph scored nine big points down the stretch to put the game away.
Damian Lillard led the Blazers with 27 points. Aldridge had 16 before exiting.
Portland shot 43 percent and made just six of its 22 attempts from beyond the arc.
With the win, the Grizzlies completed a four-game sweep of the Blazers for the first time in franchise history.
Things don't get any easier for Portland, as it will head home to host the NBA-best Golden State Warriors Tuesday night at 10:30 p.m. ET.
Meanwhile, Memphis will have what should be an easy road win against the New York Knicks Monday night at 7:30 p.m. ET.
