Nike Air Foamposite One 'Metallic Gold': Release Date, Pics and Retail Price
The release date for the latest edition of the Nike Air Foamposite One, "Metallic Gold," has bounced around in recent weeks. It appears those eagerly awaiting the shoe's availability will finally get their wish this Friday, March 20.
Brendan Dunne of Sole Collector reports the shoes were originally slated to come out on March 14. Nike then pushed the date back to April 3 before changing its mind again and settling on March 20.
Here are the release details from Nike:
| Friday, March 20 | 10 a.m. ET | $230 | 7-15 |
Kicks On Fire noted the latest change in the availability date and provided a look at the shoe:
Here are some more angles via J23 iPhone App on Twitter:
Although not everybody is a fan of the foam style, it's hard to ignore this edition. The solid gold color scheme on the sides makes it stand out in a major way, and the black provides contrast, especially with the gold weaved in elsewhere on the shoe.
Interestingly, the color doesn't make for a completely over-the-top shoe. Normally, when gold is incorporated into something, it's for that very effect. But in this case, it simply provides a new-age feel.
Before the release was pushed back, Dope Kix Daily provided an early peek at how the shoes look in action:
That picture highlights how the shoe pops in natural light as opposed to artificial lighting. The shine is highly noticeable there, which makes a release date with spring and summer on the horizon perfect timing.
The only thing that may not totally work is the blue ice soles. It's a shoe that relies heavily on the standout color element and the aforementioned contrast. The bottom of the shoe doesn't do anything to enhance either.
Villa provided a look that helps illustrate that point:
Going with lighter or darker soles could have perfected the look.
That said, it's an awesome-looking shoe with more to like than dislike. The Air Foamposite One has become more of a niche release than some of Nike's more talked-about styles, but it's one of the brand's staples.
The hardest part for most fans of the shoes has been the wait. Barring another change of heart from Nike, that will come to a close Friday, which is ideal timing considering it is also the first day of spring.
