Milwaukee Bucks vs. New Orleans Pelicans: Live Score, Highlights and Reaction

Matthew SchmidtMar 17, 2015

Anthony Davis had 20 points and 12 rebounds, Quincy Pondexter scored 18 points and the New Orleans Pelicans outlasted the Milwaukee Bucks, 85-84, at the Smoothie King Center Tuesday night, grabbing sole possession of the Western Conference's No. 8 seed.

This was an odd game, to say the least.

The Pelicans jumped out to a 15-0 lead, as it took the Bucks nearly six minutes to register their first points. However, Milwaukee ended the half on a 44-27 run and took a 44-42 lead into the locker room.

New Orleans came out firing once again in the third quarter, starting with a 14-3 run to take a 56-47 edge, but Jason Kidd's ballclub responded once again, going on a 9-0 run to tie the contest at 56.

The two teams went back and forth the rest of the way, all leading up to Ersan Ilyasova rimming out on a three-pointer at the buzzer.

Both squads shot under 40 percent from the floor, with the Bucks shooting 37 percent and the Pelicans hitting on 35 percent of their field-goal attempts.

Ilyasova and Giannis Antetokounmpo each scored 15 points to lead Milwaukee, which has now lost eight of its last 10 games and 13 straight in New Orleans.

Davis, who dropped 43 points on the Bucks on Mar. 9, went just 6-of-18 from the field.

Omer Asik posted 16 points and 11 boards.

The Bucks will now head home to host a likely angry San Antonio Spurs team Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET. The Spurs fell in overtime on the road to the New York Knicks Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, the Pelicans will trek out West to battle a Phoenix Suns club that has all but fallen out of the Western Conference playoff picture. That game will be Thursday night at 10 p.m. ET.
