ESPN provided video of the incident from the Big East clash:
The Pirates, who are fading from the NCAA tournament bubble, could have really used a victory over the sixth-ranked Wildcats. Instead they were down by 26 points with less than five minutes left when the flagrant foul occurred.
Afterward, Gibbs took to social media to apologize for his actions. He chalked it up to getting caught in the heat of the moment:
Arcidiacono accepted the apology:
ESPN's Jay Williams believes the punishment should have been much harsher than just two games:
Adam Zagoria of SNY provided an update on the Seton Hall star's status beyond this season after the incident:
It's a difficult setback for the Pirates. Not only did they lose their best remaining chance to impress the selection committee outside of the conference tournament, but now they will be without their leading scorer for the next two games.
Credit to Gibbs for owning up to the brutal forearm, and nice sportsmanship by Arcidiacono to leave it in the past. Neither team needs any further distractions as Seton Hall attempts to find its way into the big dance and 'Nova gears up for a potential deep run.
