NBA Rumors: Hottest Trade Buzz Surrounding Goran Dragic, Enes Kanter and More

Mike ChiariFeb 14, 2015

With the trade deadline approaching and teams hoping to improve their playoff positioning, the rumor mill has officially reached a fever pitch.

Activity seems to fluctuate wildly at the deadline from one season to the next, but it certainly seems as though there could be more movement than usual this year. There is a great mix of buyers and sellers, which should make for an active and exciting market.

As the deadline continues to draw closer, here is a rundown of the biggest rumors that could lead to blockbuster deals in the coming days.

Goran Dragic

Point guard Goran Dragic enjoyed the best season of his career last year when he averaged over 20 points and nearly six assists per game for the Phoenix Suns. The reigning NBA Most Improved Player could find himself in a different setting once the trade deadline comes and goes, though.

According to ESPN.com's Marc Stein, the Houston Rockets have shown interest in acquiring the Slovenian star. Dragic spent parts of the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons in Houston before returning to Phoenix. With the Rockets having a need in the backcourt, however, a reunion isn't out of the question.

Per Gery Woelfel of The Racine Journal Times, Houston is willing to pay a lofty price in order to re-acquire Dragic:

According to Stein, though, there is a feeling that the Suns would prefer to trade point guard Isaiah Thomas before parting with Dragic:

Regardless of who ends up moving, Suns general manager Ryan McDonough recently revealed on 98.7 FM in Phoenix that he would like to use some of his backcourt depth to bring in size, per Stein:

"

I think our roster balance is a little off, and that's my fault. We are a little too backcourt-heavy, especially in terms of guys who, you know, I think you'd define primarily as scorers in the backcourt. So I think at some point we'll need to balance that out, try to get a little more size, a little more frontcourt scoring and rebounding.

"

Losing Dragic would certainly hurt to some degree, as he is averaging over 16 points and four assists per contest. But the Suns are currently clinging to the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, and they need to make a move in order to solidify themselves.

If they see an opportunity to get better at other positions, then don't be surprised if they make the difficult decision to part with one of their fine point guards.

Enes Kanter

Center Enes Kanter has slowly developed into a quality player since the Utah Jazz made him the No. 3 overall selection in the 2011 NBA draft, but the Turkish star would prefer to continue his burgeoning career with a different team.

According to Aaron Falk of The Salt Lake Tribune, the 22-year-old pivot revealed after Wednesday's loss to the Dallas Mavericks that he would like to be traded. He also vented about a game in which he played just 18 minutes.

"It was not my eye at all. I don't know what it was, but it was not my eye at all. So we'll see what's going to happen," Kanter said.

Kanter is in the midst of his best season, as he is averaging nearly 14 points and eight rebounds per game. If the Jazz ultimately decide to honor his request, there will undoubtedly be several teams lining up to make an offer.

According to Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders, the Milwaukee Bucks are a team to watch on that front:

Also, while they aren't necessarily expected to court Kanter, A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com revealed that the Boston Celtics are keeping tabs on his status:

The Jazz have some depth up front with Derrick Favors, Trevor Booker and the rising Rudy Gobert in place. But one can only assume that they will do everything possible to smooth things over with Kanter before resorting to a trade.

Having a disgruntled player on the roster can be detrimental, though, which means a deal isn't 100 percent out of the question.

Reggie Jackson

The Oklahoma City Thunder somehow always seem to have a surplus of dynamic, backcourt talent. That led to them trading James Harden a few years ago, and it looks as though Reggie Jackson could face a similar fate.

Jackson has been relegated to the bench since Russell Westbrook returned from injury, but he has been a key contributor regardless. The former Boston College standout is averaging nearly 13 points, four assists and four rebounds per game off the bench. He is clearly a starting-caliber point guard, but there isn't room in OKC's lineup.

With Jackson set to become a restricted free agent this offseason, Bleacher Report's Jared Zwerling is hearing that the Thunder could attempt to be proactive by trading him:

If Oklahoma City goes that route, then the Miami Heat figure to be interested in pursuing him, according to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald.

That would be a sensible move on the Heat's part since the likes of Mario Chalmers, Norris Cole and Shabazz Napier simply aren't getting it done at the point guard position.

Miami holds a narrow, one-game lead on the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Heat are hanging by a thread to say the least, but Jackson is the type of impactful addition who would suddenly make them a force to be reckoned with.
