Karl Malone Shaves His Head with a Knife, Is a Crazy Person

Dan CarsonFeb 11, 2015

Karl Malone is a crazy and spectacular hard case of a man.

That is to say, somehow, Malone manages to come off as an even bigger, leathery bucket of nails in retirement than when he notched NBA All-Defensive honors with the Utah Jazz in the '90s.

Since leaving the league, Malone has focused his passion on becoming the Grizzly Adams of former NBA players. He smokes cigars, hunts animals the size of utility sheds and wears 10-gallon hats. He is the mountain man from those Dr. Pepper commercials, except huge and sincere.

So it comes as little surprise to hear that Malone recently admitted to maintaining his clean-shaven head with the help of a pocketknife.

The Jazz legend joined Charles Oakley on the Boomer & Carton show Wednesday morning to talk hoops and reminisce. When host Craig Carton asked how he kept his bald dome so glossy and smooth, Malone took it as an opportunity to let him in on his frontier regimen.

Barstool Sports’ Kevin Clancy posted a Vine of the moment. Malone doesn’t mess with razors.

“You shave your head with a straight edge or go like with a razor in the shower?” Carton asked.

“My pocketknife, and it’s sharp,” Malone drawled.

So if you weren’t already convinced of Malone’s old-school, uphill-both-ways craziness, just remember he employs the same hair-care techniques used in trench warfare.

Dan is on Twitter. He keeps knives away from his face and/or scalp.
