Nike and Kevin Durant Honor His Late Aunt Pearl with New KD7 Shoes

As a way to honor Kevin Durant's late Aunt Pearl, Nike and the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar have teamed up to create a new shoe in her memory.

Aunt Pearl had lung cancer and died in 2001. Since then, Durant has done what he can to pay tribute to her. Nike has helped by designing shoes in her honor.

On Monday, Nike unveiled the KD7 Aunt Pearl shoes. The latest sneakers are white—the official color of lung cancer awareness—with pink and gold accents. The "angel wing" strap over the laces is the biggest tweak to the KD7s, with a nod to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund also included.

Nike will release the KD7 Aunt Pearl sneakers on Feb. 19.
