NBA.com's Jason Wise first had the news on Cousins' latest ailment: "DeMarcus Cousins has been added to the team's injury report with a left ankle sprain and left hip contusion."
Cousins has been banged up at times this season, missing 12 games thus far, but on the court he's been a star. The former first-round pick leads all centers in scoring and is third in rebounding, per ESPN.com.
The Kings have developed a solid offensive nucleus this year, but losing Cousins for any length of time completely changes the dynamic of Tyrone Corbin's offense. He is limited defensively, which is one reason the team has struggled in that area, but finding a true center who is a double-double machine is rare.
This is the first year that Cousins has really battled to stay on the court, so it's not time to say he's injury-prone. Sometimes players just have one of those years when the wear and tear catches up them. The 24-year-old shouldn't have problems coming back and dominating as he has so often this season.
