Daily Fantasy College Basketball 2015: Top Player Picks for Feb. 3

Rob GoldbergFeb 3, 2015

With the NFL now in the rearview mirror, fans can turn their attention to college basketball, a sport that provides exciting games just about every day of the week.

Of course, winning at DraftKings is not always easy. You often have to look deep at the list of options to find the best picks in each contest. Here is a look at the best value selections for Tuesday, Feb. 3.

Isaiah Whitehead, Seton Hall ($6,400)

Although the highly touted freshman missed nine games with a stress fracture in his foot, it didn't take long for Isaiah Whitehead to get back into the swing of things.

The guard returned to the floor Saturday against Xavier and finished with 19 points, four rebounds and three assists in just 23 minutes. Even the opposing coach, Chris Mack, was impressed by the performance, via Jerry Carino of the Asbury Park Press:

"

I didn't think he would play as many minutes as he played. When a guy sits down as long as he does, he may only be an emotional (factor). It's rare to do what he did, walk out there and play 20-plus minutes, almost lead the team in scoring and make big free throws down the stretch. Honestly, it looked like he never left.

"

Whitehead is one of the more talented pure scorers in the nation and was just hitting his stride before getting hurt. He should be able to put up some more big numbers against a terrible DePaul defense, and you should take advantage of him costing less than $7,000 for probably the last time this year.

Sindarius Thornwell, South Carolina ($6,700)

Arkansas has the perfect defense against which to put up big numbers. It pressures a lot to force opponents to pick up the pace, but it is still porous enough to give up open shots all over the floor. Bart Pohlman has noticed the poor play throughout the year:

Even after a low-scoring battle against Florida, the Razorbacks rank 291st in the nation while allowing 70.9 points per game.

This leaves an opportunity for Sindarius Thornwell to continue his recent hot streak. The sophomore has scored in double figures in each of the last five games and is also averaging 6.4 rebounds per game during this stretch. His ability to penetrate into the lane and finish at the rim will be very apparent in this game as he looks to have a strong day.

Tyler Roberson, Syracuse ($6,700)

Since freshman Chris McCullough went down for the year with an ACL injury, Tyler Roberson has shown off his skills as an elite rebounder for his height at 6'8". The forward is averaging 9.2 rebounds over his last five games, and that doesn't even include his two 17-rebound games from earlier in the year.

At the same time, Roberson has become more aggressive offensively with at least 10 points in each of the last three games. Against Miami (FL), the sophomore played all 40 minutes while totaling 10 points, 14 rebounds and four assists.

Virginia Tech has struggled throughout most of the season, losing eight of the last nine games. The Hokies have especially been getting dominated on the boards on both ends of the court.

Roberson might not be a huge scorer, but he has a good chance of racking up a double-double against an inferior opponent.

Kyle Washington, North Carolina State ($5,000)

If you want to get high-priced players into a DraftKings lineup, you also need to find some diamonds in the rough. One cheap player with plenty of upside is Kyle Washington out of North Carolina State.

While Wake Forest has some talented low-post players, a lack of a true rim-protector has led to terrible interior defense this season. According to KenPom.com, the Demon Deacons rank 293rd in the nation at defending two-point shots.

Washington lacks consistency, but he has the size and skill to put up big numbers against this defense. The sophomore is coming off a 14-point effort against Clemson and can at least replicate this if he gets enough playing time.

Frank Kaminsky, Wisconsin ($9,700)

Sometimes the obvious pick is still a good one.

Frank Kaminsky will kill a lot of your budget if you grab him, but he has been so good this season that you almost don't have a choice. The senior fills up the box score in every game, putting him in the discussion for National Player of the Year, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman:

Over the last eight games, Kaminsky is averaging 36.5 points per game on DraftKings. The only time he failed to reach 30 in this stretch was a 26-point effort against Purdue, a team with a pair of seven-foot centers.

Considering Indiana doesn't have anyone in the rotation taller than 6'7", Kaminsky should have a field day.
