According to the team's official Twitter account, head coach Brad Stevens became aware that Prince was suffering from a hip flexor just prior to the start of the contest against the Heat:

Prince was recently acquired in a deal that sent forward Jeff Green to the Memphis Grizzlies. Since the C's aren't necessarily in win-now mode, there was understandably some chatter regarding another trade potentially being in the works.

That wasn't the case, though, and Stevens even said that he planned to feature Prince heavily against the Heat, per Scott Souza of The MetroWest Daily News:

The 13-year player could very well generate some interest as the trade deadline approaches.
