Clippers Lack of Depth at Guard Makes Redick Essential Piece
Largely healthy last season, Redick has found his perfect situation in Los Angeles. Playing alongside Chris Paul and Blake Griffin has allowed Redick to fully be unleashed as one of the game's best three-point threats and he set a career-high 16.4 points per game in 2014-15.
The Clippers had to turn to Jamal Crawford and Austin Rivers for extended time while Redick was out. Any absence in the future will only serve to highlight the Clippers' ongoing problems finding suitable role players off of the bench. This is by far Doc Rivers' best job of accumulating reserve talent, but the Clips are still thinner on the wing than they'd like.
Amazingly, Redick is their best two-way wing. Offensively, the floor won't constrict with Crawford playing the shooting guard role, but it will with Rivers, whose miserable shooting and below-average distribution skills have halted his trajectory.
To put it mildly, the Clippers have to be happy to see Redick recover so quickly.
