Aldridge Injures Thumb

The star forward sat out Sunday night against the Memphis Grizzlies due to a right thumb strain, according to Joe Freeman of The Oregonian.

Blazers digital reporter Casey Holdahl provided an update after the game:

The Trail Blazers have taken a big step forward this season, becoming one of the best teams in the Western Conference and ranking in the top 10 in points, rebounds, assists and points allowed per game, via ESPN.com

Aldridge, when healthy, is a big reason for Portland's rise. The 29-year-old power forward averages a double-double, though he has been slowed at times this season. He suffered a thumb injury to his other hand in January that required an MRI.

Aldridge leads the team in scoring and makes a perfect complement to Damian Lillard at the point guard position, so the fact this injury was not more serious is encouraging for Portland.

Aldridge is in the final year of his contract and will command a lot of attention in the offseason if he finishes as strong as he started.
