Black Injures Ankle, X-Ray Comes Back Negative

Tuesday, Jan. 20

Los Angeles Lakers forward Tarik Black suffered a sprained right ankle during Monday night's contest against the Phoenix Suns.

The rookie went down in pain late in the fourth quarter, and as Lakers.com's Mike Trudell reported, he was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game:

The x-ray results were positive per Trudell:

Since being signed off waivers earlier this month, Black has provided a nice spark off the Lakers' bench, averaging 8.0 points and 5.7 rebounds in 17.7 minutes per contest entering Monday night.

As USA Today's Adi Joseph noted, it's unfortunate timing for the big man, who has been playing well:

Black was beginning to carve out more minutes in the rotation, so it is important he recovers quickly.
