Washington Wizards vs. Chicago Bulls: Live Score, Highlights and Reaction
Hot shooting from the Chicago Bulls and sloppy ball control from the Washington Wizards gave Chicago the early lead in these teams' third meeting of the season, but a second-half run from Washington ultimately paved the way for a Wizards victory Wednesday night.
Derrick Rose enjoyed one of his finest nights of 2014-15, scoring a season-high 32 points and making a career-high six (of nine) three pointers. Though he paced Chicago to a first-half lead, the rest of his team went ice cold in the final two periods, and a momentum shift (sparked by a Joakim Noah injury) allowed Washington to steal the win on the road.
For the Wizards, John Wall scored 21 points and added nine assists, though it was Paul Pierce's big play in the fourth quarter that ultimately solidified the win. He finished with 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting, going perfect from inside the arc.
Though Wall and Pierce led the way, it was—in every way—a team win. The rest of the starting lineup posted above-average numbers, with Beal scoring 17 while putting on a show from mid-range, while Gortat commanded the interior with 11 points (10 of which came in the second half) and nine rebounds.
Nene was especially effective. Though he scored just 13 points and grabbed only four rebounds, he logged eight assists and put forth a defensive effort that stifled and frustrated Pau Gasol (4-of-11) for much of the contest.
As a whole, Washington assisted on 29 of its 40 baskets and shot over 50 percent from the floor.
Chicago, meanwhile, simply couldn't find any options outside of Rose. A host of players scored either 13 or 12, but nearly all shot at an inefficient clip and were invisible in the final few minutes.
Washington maintains its hold on the Eastern Conference's No. 2 seed, moving up to 27-12 on the season while the Bulls drop to 26-14.
