Los Angeles Lakers vs. Los Angeles Clippers: Live Score, Highlights and Reaction
This one was over before it even began.
From the opening tip, the Los Angeles Clippers rode stellar performances from Chris Paul and Blake Griffin to one of their most impressive offensive displays of the season, blowing out the L.A. Lakers 114-89 in a game that was far more lopsided than the 25 point margin might suggest.
Blake Griffin contributed in every facet of the game, leading all scorers with 27 points (9-of-13 shooting) while also offering eight assists, nine boards and three steals. Chris Paul added 24 points and 11 assists on the night, taking advantage of Ronnie Price's injury and abusing any defender who stood in his way.
As for the Lakers, it was an all-around embarrassing effort. Their once-43-point deficit was cleaned up in a fourth quarter that saw both sides sit their stars. Kobe Bryant paved the way for the team's terrible night, finishing 2-of-12 from the floor and with six of the team's 13 turnovers. He did add seven assists and eight boards, but was ineffective on defense and was ultimately an unreliable offensive presence on a night that the Lakers could have used a go-to scorer to lean on.
Jordan Hill was the team's most productive offensive player with 14 points on eight shots. Wayne Ellington, Nick Young, Jordan Clarkson, Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer all contributed double-digit scoring—a feat accomplished by each of the Clippers' starters (despite not receiving any playing time in the final quarter).
In all, the Clippers found their offensive groove early, moving the ball rapidly and exposing their opponent's defensive holes.
The other Los Angeles team, meanwhile, was a mess on both ends for much of the game, perhaps a product of its lack of rest—it was its third game in four nights—but more so the fruit of a subpar roster and excellence from the Clippers.
