Stephenson Out vs. Rockets
Monday, April 13
The Hornets confirmed that Stephenson will not play against the Rockets.
On April 10,ย Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reported that Stephenson would miss Friday's game with what was being called turf toe.
The Hornets signed Stephenson over the summer after his breakout season with the Indiana Pacers. The hope was he would provide a major boost to the team's offense. It hasn't happened, as the shooting guard has struggled to find any level of consistency in his new surroundings.
He's posted 8.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game in 2014-15.
After a notably slow start, he proceeded to suffer a pelvic sprain in December that kept him sidelined for an extended period of time. He also battled a groin ailment that lingered throughout the early portion of his first season in Charlotte.
Now, he's an injury concern once again. The Hornets must wait until the severity of the latest issue is determined, but it's never a good sign when a player gets banged up so frequently in one season.
In the meantime, Gerald Henderson figures to step into a larger role.
With the Hornets eliminated from playoff contention, Charlotte is unlikely to rush Stephenson back into the lineup.
