Behind a game-high 34 points (12-of-18 shooting, 4-of-7 from three) from Kevin Durant, the Oklahoma City Thunder improved to .500 for the first time this season and defeated the Washington Wizards, 109-102, Friday night.
Russell Westbrook added 22 points and six assists as the Thunder brought their record to 17-17 while the Wizards dropped to 22-10 with the loss.
After things were tied at 82 through three quarters, Durant and the Thunder took over during the final frame, outscoring Washington, 27-20, over the game's last 12 minutes.
Serge Ibaka chipped in 13 points while Nick Collison added 10 and Reggie Jackson posted nine points and a team-best plus-minus rating of plus-19 in 28 minutes off the bench.
Bradley Beal led the Wizards with 21 points (7-of-15 shooting, 3-of-5 from three), 10 rebounds and six assists while John Wall double-doubled to the tune of 14 points (5-of-13 shooting, 2-of-6 from three) and 12 dimes.
All told, six Washington players finished in double figures, including Nene (12 points), Paul Pierce (12), and Rasual Butler (11). Andre Miller scored a season-high 15 points, as well, 13 of which came in the first half.
As a team, the Wizards shot 46 percent from the field and 52 percent from three.
After dropping consecutive games, Washington will attempt to get back on the winning track Saturday night against the San Antonio Spurs. The Thunder, meanwhile, will square off against the Golden State Warriors on Monday night.
