Polee Collapses on Court vs. UC Riverside

San Diego State senior forward Dwayne Polee II collapsed on the court Monday night during the second half of a game against UC Riverside.
According to Mark Zeigler of The San Diego Union-Tribune, Polee began running toward the sideline to follow his man on defense before he stumbled and fell to the ground. Paramedics quickly responded and treated Polee for 15 minutes before removing him from the court on a gurney and taking him to a local hospital.
GoAztecs.com reassured fans that Polee remained conscious as he exited:
Coach Steve Fisher said Polee was "alert and responsive" and offered up the following exchange he had with the senior, per Zeigler: "I said, 'Dwayne, you’re going to be fine,'" Fisher said. "He said, 'I'm OK, Coach. Tell them to win the game.'"
Steve Lavin, who recruited Polee to play at St. John's before he transferred to SDSU, sent prayers out to Polee and his family:
Bill Riley of 700 ESPN in Salt Lake City felt the situation brought back all-too-familiar memories of Hank Gathers, who collapsed during a 1990 conference tournament game against Portland and died shortly thereafter:
What caused Polee's medical scare remains unknown.
