Activists to Protest Redskins Name, Logo at FedEx Field During Final Home Game
An opposing faction of the Washington Redskins' team name plans to stage a protest during the team's Week 17 home finale against the NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Dec. 28.
John Woodrow Cox of The Washington Post (h/t SI.com) reports that the combined forces of the nonprofit organization Not Your Mascots and the National Coalition Against Racism in Sports and Media hope to have 500 people protest the Redskins' logo and team name at FedEx Field.
"Hopefully the message is getting across that we're not going away," said Tara Houska, who works for Not Your Mascots and is leading the protest.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Team owner Daniel Snyder has supported the professional Washington football team's nickname. The argument for the current mascot's proponents is that it isn't intended to disparage Native Americans, but rather pay tribute to them.
Unfortunately for Snyder, his tenure as owner has received negative attention for the on-field product Washington has produced too.
Other than a temporary reprieve with a 2012 division title, the team hasn't been among the league's best in recent years. Washington currently has a 3-11 record in its first year under coach Jay Gruden.
That this mascot issue has persisted for as long as it has—which even led to the President of the United States putting forth his opinion—shows just how polarizing and sensitive it is.
The controversy will only become more salient if the upcoming protest is a success in terms of numbers and in communicating its message.
