Monday, Feb. 9
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green left the floor during Monday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers with a sprained ankle.
The Golden State Warriors confirmed he would not return.
After the game, X-rays on Green's ankle were negative according to Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle. Simmons added further details after speaking with coach Steve Kerr:
Green has proven to be quite the bargain as an early second-round pick in the 2012 NBA draft.
The youngster has been instrumental to the Warriors' raging success to start the 2014-15 season. Green's versatility on both ends of the floor has helped compensate for the absence of All-Star David Lee on the front line.
Brian Witt of Warriors.com highlighted Green's ability to stuff the stat sheet:
ESPN.com's Ethan Sherwood Strauss documented what Green had to say about those who doubted him in the draft, something that's evidently fueled the former Michigan State star's pro success:
A right thumb sprain earlier in the year was Green's only prior red flag from a health standpoint. Thankfully for the Warriors, their minimal investment on Green has seen him continue to grow by leaps and bounds with the NBA experience he's accrued in his young career.
This Golden State squad is loaded with depth, so as long as Green isn't out for too long, coach Steve Kerr can reshuffle the rotation and get by for the time being.
Because of how flexible Kerr can be with lineups, don't be surprised if either Andre Iguodala or Marreese Speights takes on Green's significant role.
