Nene Suffers Sore Foot
Wednesday, Jan. 28
Nene, 32, is a glue guy on both ends for Washington when he's healthy but is nearly a half-decade removed from his last fully healthy campaign. He's missed no fewer than 21 games each of the last three seasons and is well on his way to matching that total in 2014-15.
The Wizards have dealt with Nene's frailty since acquiring him, but it's nonetheless frustrating for a team with designs on an Eastern Conference Finals run.
With Nene on the floor, Washington has one of the most well-rounded starting fives in basketball. The Wizards have blitzed opposing teams in particular on the defensive end when their starters are on the floor, per NBA.com, but injuries to Nene and Bradley Beal have kept their time together to a minimum.
With the Toronto Raptors ascending and Atlanta Hawks exceeding expectations, Washington needs starter health more than ever to compete for home-court advantage in the first round.
Nene's near-constant injury issues aren't helping.
