Week 15 NFL Picks: Latest Betting Odds, Vegas Spreads and Projections

Rob GoldbergDec 9, 2014

The NFL season is approaching "last call" with struggling teams running out of chances to turn things around.

Week 15 features a number of divisional matchups and other important battles that could have major playoff implications. However, those games could also represent the virtual end of the season for a few squads hanging by a thread.

You should never count out a comeback opportunity in a sport with so much parity like the NFL, but we are likely to see a lot more separation after this week.

Philadelphia Eagles (-3.5) over Dallas Cowboys

The Seattle Seahawks shut down the Eagles offense in Week 14, which saw its worst performance ever under Chip Kelly, according to Gil Brandt of NFL.com:

Despite this lack of success, it is important not to forget this offense is just one week removed from totaling 464 yards in a blowout win over the Cowboys in Week 13. With a rematch against Dallas in Week 15, you have to expect some more success from this offense.

Kelly certainly believes his players will be ready to bounce back, per Zach Berman of The Philadelphia Inquirer:

Dallas will be well-rested after winning Thursday night against the Chicago Bears, but the squad has no idea how to slow down the fast-paced Eagles offense. LeSean McCoy should have another big game while Mark Sanchez does enough to post another 30-point game.

This battle will likely decide the NFC East title, and right now all signs are pointing to the Eagles being victorious.

San Diego Chargers (+4) over Denver Broncos

Peyton Manning is almost required to make a public apology to fantasy owners after his Week 14 dud. His team got the win, but it was his first time not throwing a touchdown since 2010, while his quarterback rating was even worse, according to ESPN's Mike Rodak:

The Broncos decided to use a run-first approach to beat the Buffalo Bills behind C.J. Anderson, who finished with three touchdowns himself.

This actually plays right into the Chargers' hands, as the team loves to slow down the game and reduce it to as few possessions as possible. Philip Rivers and company want to play efficiently, and keeping the ball out of Manning's hands will certainly be helpful.

While the Chargers were shut down offensively against the New England Patriots last week, everyone seems to be suffering that fate lately. They should be able to bounce back in Week 15 to help earn an upset win over Denver.

Seattle Seahawks (-10) over San Francisco 49ers

This seems like too big of a spread for a rivalry game of this magnitude, but there might not be a line big enough to bet on the 49ers this week.

While San Francisco had been trending downward for a few weeks, this past Sunday was likely the low point with a 24-13 loss to the rival Oakland Raiders. The offense looked hapless once again and is now averaging 12.3 points per game over the last four weeks.

Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News discussed the mood after the game:

The 49ers made wholesale coaching changes after the 2010 season, something that appears likely this time around as well.

On the other hand, Seattle is rounding back into form and is looking like it could be on track to defend its Super Bowl title. After shutting down the 49ers at Levi's Stadium two weeks ago, things could somehow be worse at CenturyLink Field.

The last two regular-season games between these teams in Seattle have been decided by a combined 55 points, and this one could actually be the biggest blowout of the bunch.
