The Boston Celtics defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, 113-96, Friday night behind a career-high 24 points (10-of-11 shooting) and season-high 14 rebounds from Tyler Zeller.
Boston (6-11) has now won consecutive contests while the Lakers (5-15) have dropped back-to-back games after winning two straight.
After leading by just five at halftime, the Celtics pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Lakers, 33-22, before winning the fourth quarter, 27-26.
All five Celtics starters finished in double figures in the win. Rajon Rondo was particularly prolific, compiling 12 points, a game-high 16 assists and eight rebounds. In fact, Rondo had more assists than the Lakers did as a team (14).
Jeff Green poured in 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting while Jared Sullinger posted a double-double consisting of 17 points and 13 boards. Avery Bradley chipped in 16 points, as well.
As a team, the Celtics shot 51.1 percent from the field, 40 percent from three and out-rebounded the Lakers, 54-38.
Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 22 points on 9-of-21 shooting, but L.A. was a team-worst minus-29 with him on the floor. Conversely, the Celtics were a team-best plus-40 with Rondo on the floor.
Jordan Hill added 13 points on a perfect 6-of-6 shooting while pulling down four rebounds, but played just 22 minutes. Robert Sacre, on the other hand, shot 1-of-10 from the field and scored two points while playing 26 minutes off the pine.
Nick Young poured in 16 points off the bench, but the Lakers struggled as a unit, shooting 41.3 percent from the field.
The Lakers will look to get back on the winning track Sunday against the New Orleans Pelicans while the Celtics will have a chance to extend their winning streak Sunday at home against the Washington Wizards.
