Derrick Favors Illness: Updates on Jazz Forward's Status and Return

Derrick Favors' battle with the flu will keep him sidelined for at least one game.

According to the Utah Jazz's official Twitter feed, the 23-year-old, who was sent home from shootaround, will miss Monday night's contest against the Denver Nuggets:

Favors has looked ready to take the next step forward in his progression this season, averaging 15.9 points on 56.3 percent shooting to go with 8.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per contest. Among players who have logged at least 300 minutes, he is 15th in the NBA with a 22.5 player efficiency rating (PER).

Fortunately, he isn't likely to miss more than just this game due to the flu. As long as he's sidelined, though, Trevor Booker and intriguing young center Rudy Gobert will see an uptick in minutes.
