Fantasy Football Week 13: Top 50 Flex Rankings and Must-Start Sleepers

Donald WoodNov 26, 2014

It is important to win each week during the fantasy football regular season, but Week 13 is more important than ever, as it is the final matchup before the postseason begins.

It’s win or go home for many fantasy teams.

Bye weeks are no longer an excuse, and injuries have taken their toll on almost every team in the league. With most owners in the same boat, Week 13 will come down to the team that deciphers the rankings and starts the best lineup.

Sleepers You Can’t Miss

If you are one of the owners who has slept on Baltimore Ravens running back Justin Forsett or New York Jets wide receiver Percy Harvin previously, it is time to get them into your starting lineup as flex plays this week.

Forsett’s workload has been inconsistent at times this season, but when Baltimore gives him the lion’s share of the carries, he has been an absolute fantasy monster. Over the last two weeks, Forsett has carried the ball 44 times for 294 yards and four touchdowns.

As great as Forsett has been, he has totaled 70 or fewer rushing yards seven times this season and has seen carries vultured by Bernard Pierce. Fortunately for fantasy owners, the Ravens are showing trust in him, and he should be the No. 1 back for the remainder of the year.

With a Week 13 matchup against a San Diego Chargers defensive unit that is giving up 108.8 yards per game, owners should expect 18 carries for 100 yards and a touchdown from the seventh-year player.

Another player worth starting despite unfavorable circumstances is Harvin. According to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, New York has benched quarterback Michael Vick and will turn the reins over to Geno Smith once again. The season is already over for the Jets, and the result should be a more wide-open offensive scheme.

New York showed the ability to get Harvin involved in the game plan when the Jets played Kansas City earlier in the season and he caught 11 passes for 139 yards. Smith has an average of 5.96 yards per completion this season and has been dependent on the short pass.

Harvin is at his most dangerous in open space, and head coach Rex Ryan should be looking to keep the planned passes short. Smith using his legs and finding the quick passes will be the recipe for success against the Miami Dolphins.

With Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos revealing the blueprint to beat the Miami defense, Smith will be looking to showcase his skills with the second chance he has been given, and the beneficiary will be Harvin.

New York will be in desperation mode, and fantasy owners should expect six receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown from Harvin in a pivotal Week 13 matchup. Starting Harvin as your flex is a risk, but there is major upside this week.
