Fantasy Football Week 13: Breakout Players to Add on Waiver Wire for Playoff Run
Late in the season, adding a player from the waiver wire typically won't help or hurt an owner's chances at making the playoffs. However, there are several players who can be trusted moving forward thanks to recent production.
Whether owners are hoping to make a playoff run or simply avoid the consolation round, several players have emerged to help out. The best options are clearly at running back, but other positions do offer potential for the postseason.
Ahead of Week 13 getting underway, here's a look at some of the most intriguing players likely still on the waiver wire.

Colts Release Kenny Moore

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Zach Mettenberger, QB, Tennessee Titans (4.1 percent owned)

Since taking over the starting job for the Tennessee Titans, Zach Mettenberger has registered 15 or more points in three of his first four starts. How he's not owned in more than five percent of ESPN leagues is beyond me.
Owners are likely already sold on their signal-caller, but Mettenberger has been solid recently. Sure, some of the stats were padded late in the fourth quarter, but the Titans simply aren't a great team.
Not only has Mettenberger played well recently, but he has several favorable matchups moving forward. Below is a look at the schedule and fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks by each team.
| 13 | Houston Texans | 16.20 |
| 14 | New York Giants | 18.26 |
| 15 | New York Jets | 20.70 |
| 16 | Jacksonville Jaguars | 17.20 |
For owners with underwhelming quarterbacks hoping to make a late charge, Mettenberger is the player to add. Given his recent play and upcoming schedule, this rookie might prove to be gold in the playoffs.
Latavius Murray, RB, Oakland Raiders (10.1 percent owned)
Here's what we know about Latavius Murray: He's explosive when given the chance. Even with him going off for over 100 yards and two touchdowns on Thursday Night Football, a late injury caused him to leave the game early.
Over his last two games, Murray has just eight total carries for a total of 155 yards. Despite leaving the game early against the Kansas City Chiefs, he made a bit of history, per ESPN Stats & Info:
Prior to Week 12, the Chiefs had yet to surrender a rushing touchdown. Murray rushed for two a week after Marshawn Lynch was shut out of the end zone by Kansas City. Much like Rashad Jennings did for fantasy owners and the Raiders last season, Murray has a chance to break out moving forward.
Let's just say this guy is going to be terrifying if he gets a full workload with the Raiders. After his performance in Week 12, it appears likely Oakland might let him run wild.
Jarvis Landry, WR, Miami Dolphins (11.2 percent owned)
For those who didn't listen last week, Jarvis Landry made things loud and clear in Week 12.
The former LSU receiver is part of a dynamic crop of former Tigers dominating the NFL in their first seasons. Odell Beckham Jr. and the aforementioned Mettenberger are two standouts, but Landry has been a reliable player for the Dolphins.
Not only has he scored four touchdowns in his last four games, but he's been targeted the most by Ryan Tannehill. Adam Levitan of Rotoworld notes the recent numbers for Miami's passing game:
In a year where rookie receivers have been shining nearly every week, Landry might be overlooked by fantasy owners. Thanks to his recent production, he has serious flex appeal with a matchup against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.
